That Oil Spill Incident

It isn't on the news as much anymore, which is a bit of a shame, but there is still a massive oil slick out in the Gulf and we've yes to see the full effects of what it can do. I remember as a kid getting tar stuck to my feet at the beach. I like having that NOT happen, thank you, so I appreciate what many agencies like the National Wildlife Federation are trying to do. The best thing you can do in situations like this is to educate the masses.

Oceana also has an entire page dedicated to this horrible disaster. Just because it isn't in the news you watch doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Are you Certifiable?

Aw, come on! I don't mean it like that! I mean your backyard. I know a few of my readers have a lot of visitors in their yards and that is just what the National Wildlife Federation is looking for. NWF is having a drive to certify 150,000 yards this weekend. As an added incentive, by applying for certification you get:

Endangered Species Act Update

The National Wildlife Federation posted a video on their blog about the Endangered Species Act and why it is so important. You may remember I did a previous post as a call to action for everyone. Well, in case you missed it the first time.... Go. Write. Letters. Now. This is dreadfully important in so many way and the video does a better job of describing what I tried to... I am not good at putting things in easy to understand terms. I'm working on it. In the meantime, make sure we keep our protected lands protected. Thanks.
