A "Spotless Mind"

>> Thursday, October 23, 2008

A recent study by researchers at the Georgia College of Medicine found a way to "erase" memories. In a study with mice, they found that a particular protein admitted in high quantities while recalling an event will erase a memory.

I never could tell how they know that mice are or aren't remembering. Do they ask them? How do the mice respond? I will have to check into this.

Either way, would you consider erasing a memory a la Eternal Sunshine...? Apparently it is not that far off. You can find the article here.

@ cheryl... I don't know if I like that idea. I believe that our experiences help make us who we are... it's weird.

As much as I loved the movie, the prospect of erasing memory scares me more than a little. Still, just mulling over the possibility is a fascinating exercise. Thanks for sharing the article: I suspect it'll touch off a lively round of discussion around the dinner table this weekend!

And the picture? OMG, stunning! Saw your link over on Sealaura's site...if you want to jump into Thematic Photographic with both feet, a lot of folks over on my blog would love to welcome you on board.

@ carmi... it is interesting, albeit a tad scary. Thanks for stopping by.

@ toni... that is what helps form our perspectives on life. I couldn't agree more!
